I came to this book actually not expecting that much - the usual insta-love and teen whining over an impossible relationship - so I was actually blown away.
This was a book that gripped you right from the start and really built up the tension as the story progressed. The relationship between Finn and Cat is subtle and believable, growing from fear, to friendship and finally to love over many years. You see both of them grow as characters, Cat in particular, and by the midway point, I was on the edge of my seat, anxious to see how things would work out.
The prose was nicely understated and yet still descriptive and interesting to read and I enjoyed the way snippets of information were released here and there, adding to the depth of the story and the characters. This would make a great film with the right casting.
If you are looking for a fantasy/sci-fi romance with real drama and heart, then this could be the book for you; I can certainly highly recommend it.
