#RainbowSnippets - 7 January 2017 - From 'Wish You Were Here'

We are into the new year and Saturday's here again! Time for more Rainbow Snippets.

For today's snippet, I thought I'd share a few more lines from my forthcoming MM novella Wish You Were Here.

This contemporary tale with a twist releases from Dreamspinner Press on 8 February and I'll be running a blog tour 11-25 February, so I'm sure I'll be sharing more with you all then.

“Oakley.” His mother’s voice, coming from the other room. “We’re going to walk down to the village and take a look around, maybe get coffee before dinner. Why don’t you come with us?”
“No, I’d rather stay here. I’ll unpack,” he called back, hoping she wouldn’t press.
There was a pause. He could picture his father grimly shaking his head, cautioning his mother to let it go. It wouldn’t take that much effort to persuade her. The past three months, she and his father seemed happier when he wasn’t around. He didn’t know why they’d made him accompany them on this two-week trip. They would have been better off without him.

  1. Poor guy. I wonder what's up with his parents.

  2. Aw, poor Oakley. Not having a good time of it. Or maybe just a typically angsty teen.

  3. Sounds like he needs some space. I hope he's okay.

  5. Sounds like maybe he needs someone to talk to, not to just be left alone.

  6. Is he maybe jumping to conclusions?

  8. Thanks for the comments this week, one and all. I'll probably share a little more for this one in early Feb, to tie in with the book's release.
