Author Interview3 - Elizabeth Noble

Today I welcome Elizabeth Noble to the blog to answer a few questions for Interview³.

Elizabeth NobleAuthor Interview³

1) Tell us 3 fun facts about your writing history
I’ve been telling stories since before I knew how to write.
I still have the first complete story I ever wrote when I was in the second grade.
I include my dogs (and a few of my past horses) in many of my stories.

2) Describe your writing style in 3 words
(I cheated on this one)
Multi-layered, action-packed, well-paced.

3) Name 3 of your literary influences
Glenda Normaly, S.E. Hinton, James Mitchener

4) Share your 3 favourite books
Black Beauty, Havenstar, The Outsiders

5) What are your 3 essential writing tools?
OneNote—it’s where I have all my research, story ideas and pictures compiled. I use regular journal/notebooks and Trello, but everything eventually ends up in OneNote.
A beverage, either hot or cold coffee or tea. Sometimes I make lemonade which also has limes and oranges in it too.
Word…I do 95% of my writing on a computer and use Word. That is also the software most editors and publishers use, so it’s needed for beta readings and submissions.

6) Where are your 3 favourite places to write?

I love the office I created from a spare room. I decided if I had to spend a lot of time in there it needed to be my perfect getaway and comfortable.
I have an outdoor office, aka my patio. Weather permitting, I like to sit out there and write. I live in Northeast Ohio, so the weather doesn’t always permit.
If it’s later in the evening I’ll often go with my laptop to the couch and get some dog cuddle time while I write.

7) Name 3 items on your writing wish list

Get an agent, maybe, I still haven’t decided on that one.
I’d like to get a contract with Carina Press
Write more sci-fi

8) What are your top 3 tips for aspiring writers?

Never give up, everyone gets rejection letters.
Keep your options open. There is no reason you can’t publish traditionally and as an Indie author.
Get your work beta read by someone not your significant other/parent/sibling/best friend those people will love everything you do. They’re fine for some beta reading, but you really need at least one impartial beta reader. If you’re planning to self-publish have your manuscript professionally edited by an actual editor and your cover designed by a cover artist.

9) Tell us 3 of your writing plans for the year ahead

I have a BDSM romance set in the world of professional ice dancing that should be completed by the time this interview is posted. I hope!
I might dip my toe into self-publishing, if not this year, then next.
I have two novels I plan to finish this year.
One novel is being cowritten with Carole Cummings (Gutter Cathedrals). It is a book within a book, one book takes place today and is basically angels and the devil searching for something very important to mankind and heaven. The book is the love story of an archangel and sefira and spans thousands of years. How’s that for long term relationship? Oh, and they’re all looking for a book!
My other planned novel is a romantic suspense (Still Waters) I’m writing alone. It’s from Kim Fielding, she posted a plot bunny on her blog and I took up the challenge. The story is set in a small, fictional town at the edge of Sequoia National park in California. A man vanishes, his body floats up in a lake a while later and the local police call in a homicide detective from Fresno. They find out they sorta like each other.

10) Tell us about your latest release
My most recent release was Quarry (January 2017 by DSP Publications). It’s the second book of my Vampire Guard series. This was a fun book to write. The Vampire Guard is the espionage branch of a larger, world-wide protection organization. Their motto is Where Legend and Myth Meet Science and Technology. They use high tech gadgets in combination with their vampire (some werewolf) qualities to get done what normal spies can’t accomplish.
In Quarry the team chases a psychopath rogue vampire and in the process discover they’ve confronted him on a number of occasions. The rogue vampire is out to steal some high-tech art, collectable computer chips turned into valuable art.
And there’s a kick ass sword fight.
This book is filled with action, espionage and a little bit of lovin’ along the way.

The members of the Vampire Guard—Jonas Forge, spy and soldier turned cop; computer hacker extraordinaire Blair Turner; Declan, thief, con man, and ex-pirate; and medical examiner and werewolf Dr. Lucas Coate—face a dangerous and elusive enemy.

And this time, it’s personal.

Over the course of three hundred years, a man has touched each of their lives in ways they are only just realizing. When a hunt for a psychotic killer in the present resurrects memories and clues from the past, they discover how they have been affected and are bound by the existence of a ruthless vampire criminal. Now, while preventing a heist at a high-tech art show and thwarting several large-scale explosions, the team must employ their unique blend of science and supernatural abilities to put an end to the machinations of the man toying with their lives.

This time, he won’t slip through their fingers.

This time, it’s more than a case. It’s a hunt, and Forge, Blair, Declan, and Lucas won’t stop until they’ve captured their quarry.

About the Author
Elizabeth Noble lives by the adage “I can’t not write”. She can’t remember a time when she didn’t make up stories and eventually she learned how to write them down. A part of every day is spent living in worlds she created that are filled with intrigue and espionage.  Using a real love of scifi and urban fantasy highlighted by twisty plots she crafts stories taking place in a slightly altered version of our world.
When she’s not chronicling the adventures of her many characters Elizabeth is a veterinary nurse living in her native Cleveland, Ohio. She shares her little brick house with an adorable canine princess and her tabby cat side-kick. Elizabeth is a fan of baseball, basketball (go Cavs and Indians!) and gardening. She can often be found working in her ‘outside office’ listening to classic rock and plotting her next novel waiting for it to be dark enough to gaze at the stars.
Elizabeth received several amateur writing awards. Since being published, several of her novels have received honorable mentions in the Rainbow Awards. Her novel Jewel Cave was a runner-up in the 2015 Rainbow Awards in the Gay Mystery/Thriller category. Ringed Love was a winner in the Gay Fantasy Romance category of the 2016 Rainbow Awards.
