Weekend Blog Hops - 11 May 2018

It's the weekend once more. That means it's time for my book blogger hopping....
http://www.coffeeaddictedwriter.com/2017/01/book-blogger-hop-january-13th-19th.html

Could you ever pick a favorite book or is it like choosing your favorite child?
It is, indeed, a tough call. If you absolutely pressed me, I'd probably say Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. However, generally, I have favourites in different genres, favourites depending on my mood etc., so having to select only one from the huge selection available is quite the ask!

Opening sentence:
Matters matrimonial had long been the focus of Miss Catherine Bennet's world.

From page 56:
Still in the habit of regarding Lydia as her chief confidante, Kitty continued to maintain the façade of writing to her.

My Current Read
What Kitty Did Next
Carrie Kablean

England, 1813. Nineteen-year-old Catherine Bennet lives in the shadow of her two eldest sisters, Elizabeth and Jane, who have both made excellent marriages. No one expects Kitty to amount to anything. Left at home in rural Hertfordshire with her neurotic and nagging mother, and a father who derides her as "silly and ignorant," Kitty is lonely, diffident and at a loss as to how to improve her situation.

When her world unexpectedly expands to London and the Darcy’s magnificent country estate in Derbyshire, she is overjoyed. Keen to impress this new society, and to change her family’s prejudice, Kitty does everything she can to improve her mind and manners—and for the first time feels liked and respected.

However, one fateful night at Pemberley, a series of events and misunderstandings conspire to ruin Kitty’s reputation and she is sent back home in disgrace. But Kitty has learnt from her new experiences and what she does next does next will not only surprise herself, but everyone else too.

  5. Sounds good even though I am one of the few who has never read Pride and Prejudice. This week I am highlighting The Queen of Sorrow by Sarah Beth Durst. Happy reading!

  6. Poor Kitty! She is the sad sister who would get stuck taking care of the parents until they died. I'm glad someone wrote a story for her!

  8. Yes, picking one favourite book is way too difficult. Especially when you read a lot of different genres, it just doesn't feel fair to try to compare them. I would never be able to choose just one favourite book as it would constantly change depending on my mood and how I was feeling and what genre I preferred at that moment in time, so it's way too wide of a question for me to narrow down one answer. I have definitely heard good things about Les Miserables though!

Feel free to check out my Book Blogger Hop answer if you wish! :)

  9. Wow, Les Mis. That's intense. And a bit of a tome. I managed to get through a degree in English literature and not read it. I enjoy the story, but I don't think I'd have the patience for it now. Happy reading!
