Weekend Blog Hops - 2 November 2018

It's the weekend once more. That means it's time for my book-blogger hopping.

Do you do collaborations with brands or other bloggers? Which collaboration was your favorite and why?
Not really. I mean, I get a lot of books to review from publishers, so that's a kind of collaboration, but I don't do any brand promotion per se. As to working with other bloggers, I have sometimes participated in one-off hops on special occasions, but I've not done any of those for a little while now.

Opening sentence:
When Clara played the piano, it wasn't magic.

From page 56:
A scrambling sounded at the engine door, and Clara turned quickly at the sight of a rat clawing at the coupler, its tail whipping behind it.

My Current Read
The Enchanted Sonata
Heather Dixon Wallwork

Clara Stahlbaum has her future perfectly planned: to marry the handsome pianist, Johann Kahler (ah!) and settle down to a life full of music. But all that changes on Christmas Eve, when Clara receives a mysterious and magical nutcracker.

Whisked away to his world—an enchanted empire of beautiful palaces, fickle fairies, enormous rats, and a prince—Clara must face a magician who uses music as spells…and the future she thought she wanted.
The Enchanted Sonata, a retelling of The Nutcracker Ballet with a dash of The Pied Piper, will captivate readers of all ages.

    1. Oh yes, the ballet version is such a UK Xmas tradition, isn't it? I went a couple of times back when I lived in England.

    1. Yes, the rats are pretty aggressive and 'evil' in this piece.

    1. It was a fun retelling. There was a little bit of violence, so not for really young children, but I think Middle Grade and up would be okay.
No, I wasn't alive in 1968, so that's not one on which I can comment. :)

  11. You should try out a buddy read or a read-along, with another blogger, Nicki!! I've done one of each, and boy, are they FUN!!! Yes, they do take some work, but, believe me, the enjoyment -- in the mutual exchange of ideas and opinions with other bloggers -- is WELL worth the work!! :) :)

OOOOOOH, the book you're reading!!!! I had not heard of it before!! "I wants it, I wants, my precious!" says Gollum. Lol. Seriously, though, I LOVE "The Nutcracker"!!! And this sure sounds like a LOVELY retelling! Thanks for putting this one on my radar!!!! <3 <3

Thanks as well for stopping by and commenting on my own BBH post!! Hope you're having a WONDERFUL weekend!! <3 :)
