Weekend Blog Hops - 26 April 2019

It's the weekend once more. That means it's time for my book-blogger hopping.

At the end of a hard day, how do you get yourself psyched about writing a book review?
Honestly, I've never had a major problem with this. If I was super tired, perhaps I'd leave it until the next day, but on the whole I will pop it up straight after I finish a book. Then again, I currently work from home, which makes my schedule more flexible.

Opening sentence:
Waking up begins with saying am and now.

From page 56:
There is nothing of any significance he can bring into this room from the outside, now; even himself.
My Current Read
A Single Man
Christopher Isherwood

Celebrated as a masterpiece from its first publication, A Single Man is the story of George, an English professor in suburban California left heartbroken after the death of his lover, Jim. With devastating clarity and humour, Christopher Isherwood shows George's determination to carry on, evoking the unexpected pleasures of life as well as the soul's ability to triumph over loneliness and alienation.

  3. I haven't heard of this book before. When was it initially published? It seems like a modern theme but it says it is a classic? My Friday Quotes are here

    1. It first came out in the mid 1960s, so it's a modern classic.

  4. This book is new to me. I hope you are enjoying it. This week I am spotlighting Pit Perfect Murder by Renee George which is a mashup of a lot of my favorite genres. Happy reading!

  5. I don't have to get psyched up to write a review. I just write my thoughts right after I finish. I have to... guess I'm anal that way.
Looks like an interesting read there. I added you to the Linky. Happy weekend!

    1. Yes, I am similar. There's never a gap of more than a day or two between finishing a book and writing the review for me.

  6. Reading a book about a main character who has lost a partner, and who is grieving and suicidal must be challenging. Those are difficult topics.

I only struggle with writing reviews when my cat insists on standing in front of my monitor and and playing with the mouse, which is what he's doing right now.

    1. It is certainly pretty deep, but I am only about a third in so far. Haha. Yes, pet distractions can be a problem.
