Weekend Blog Hops - 15 November 2019

Hi all! It's time for those weekend blog hops once again!

Do you think that overall work morale would be improved by having a "book lunch", sponsored by the company, at least once a month, or perhaps once a week? (Participation would be voluntary.)
Why not! Many people in my section at work are keen readers, so I am sure we'd all love it!

Opening sentence:
I'm dead set on living my one life right, but I can't say the same for my brother.

From page 56:
I'm catching my breath when Orton hits me with a fire-orb in the center of my chest.

My Current Read
Infinity Son (Infinity Cycle #1)
Adam Silvera

Growing up in New York, brothers Emil and Brighton always idolized the Spell Walkers—a vigilante group sworn to rid the world of specters. While the Spell Walkers and other celestials are born with powers, specters take them, violently stealing the essence of endangered magical creatures.

Brighton wishes he had a power so he could join the fray. Emil just wants the fighting to stop. The cycle of violence has taken a toll, making it harder for anyone with a power to live peacefully and openly. In this climate of fear, a gang of specters has been growing bolder by the day.

Then, in a brawl after a protest, Emil manifests a power of his own—one that puts him right at the heart of the conflict and sets him up to be the heroic Spell Walker Brighton always wanted to be.

Brotherhood, love, and loyalty will be put to the test, and no one will escape the fight unscathed.

  2. I need a good new fantasy read for winter and this sounds like it could be it! I'm intrigued by how it'll balance the fantasy elements with the relationship between the siblings! I hope you have a lovely weekend and do drop by my Friday Post if you have the time!

    1. Unfortunately it only ended up being a middling read for me.

  4. That opening sentence is kind of confusing, isn't it? With the "dead set" sounding negative but being positive. My Friday quotes

  7. I work with quite a few people who like to read, but I do not think a work sponsored book break would garner much attention in my office, I'm afraid. I often find a quiet place to read during my own lunch break though. I've been wanting to try Adam Silvera's work. I am sorry to hear you didn't enjoy Infinity Son as much as you hoped.

I hope you have a great weekend, Nicki.
