Weekend Blog Hops - 8 November 2019

Hi all! It's time for those weekend blog hops once again!

Can you stop reading before the end of a chapter?
Haha! No, not at all. No matter how tired I am or what time it is, I have to get to the end of a chapter before I slip in a bookmark and stop. That's just how my mind works. Pausing mid-chapter/mid-scene is unthinkable.

Opening sentence:
The shadow agent found him with a Kesh prostitute at a rundown hotel off the coast of Tahili, tossing back a bottle of ninety-eight-proof whiskey while she flaunted her brassy skin at the foot of the bed.

From page 56:
Everyone rose before sunup the next morning to get ready for the mission, though Voi was the first awake, since she couldn't sleep.
My Current Read
The Elementalist: Rise of Hara
T. M. White

A disgraced pilot saved by elemental magic. A jaded spy haunted by his past. An occult mystery threatening to ruin them both.

All Voi wants is to fly her plane and live a decent life, but something stands in her way: emelesia, a rare condition likely to land her in a mental asylum. Forever. Then comes Mr. Callahan, the mysterious agent who coerces Voi into spying for a cure. The catch? She has untapped elemental powers, and the enemy is psychic.

Desperate for a remedy, the aviatrix trains for a dangerous mission, wary of Mr. Callahan and their new colleagues. A surprise encounter with an adversary heightens Voi's suspicions. Someone isn't telling her the whole story.

Can the budding elementalist trust her handler and their allies, or will paranormal politics work in favor of their foes?

    1. Thanks Freda. It's not bad. I like the story idea, but I think it's overly long/the pacing too slow.

  3. I have found, as I age, that I can quit reading a book whenever I get tired, even mid-chapter.
