Weekend Blog Hops - 3 April 2020

Hi all! It's time for those weekend blog hops once again!

Sorry I missed the hops last week. I was super busy as my office job tried to transition us to working-from-home mode and I didn't manage to get the post up.

Do you have more photos of books you saw in a bookstore or elsewhere or family photos on your phone?
In short, neither. I really don't keep photos on my phone. Any I take, I use for social media posts and then delete, or if they are 'keepers', I transfer them to my computer/portable harddrive for storage. At present, the only image on my phone is a graphic ready for a book review I need to hold back until June.

Opening sentence:
For many years I claimed I could remember things seen at the time of my own birth.

From page 56:
It got so that whenever I took a bath I would stand before the mirror for a long time, staring at the mirror's ungracious reflection of my naked body.

My Current Read
Confessions of a Mask
Mishima Yukio

A Japanese teenager is overcome with longing for his male classmate. He imagines his body punctured with arrows, like the body of St Sebastian in the painting that obsesses him. Over and over again, each night in his private fantasies, the objects of his lust are tortured, killed and maimed. But, in the rigid world of imperial wartime Japan there is no place for such transgressive desires. He must wear a false mask and hide his true nature, whatever the cost.

  1. Doubt this is for me. I hope you love it though. Happy weekend, stay safe!

  2. Eww. This book sounds gruesome. Though it makes me think of an adage: Whatever is repressed, becomes obsessed, becomes acted out. My Friday quotes and a review

    1. It's actually not as gruesome as that blurb makes out. I don't think it's a good representation of the story at all.

  5. Oh its not my cup of tea, this book.. But I am the same! I don't keep a lot of photos on my phone, after posting, I delete them and shift the keepers to an external hard drive or laptop!

  7. I need to work on my "hording" tendencies but I've got more photos of family and friends on my phone than books. ;-)
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, stay safe and healthy.
