In recent years, Judy Joo has gained widespread acclaim for her vibrant take on Korean cuisine, with signature dishes like extra crispy Korean Fried Chicken consistently drawing fans back for more. Fresh, fast, and full of flavor, her approach captures the essence of Korean street food with her own unique twist.
With interest in Korean food (K-food) at an all-time high, recently voted the world’s most popular cuisine, there’s never been a better time to explore these flavors. However, Korean recipes are often seen as complex and time-consuming.
This book offers a solution by showcasing a variety of quick-to-prepare dishes, along with a comprehensive selection of traditional Korean recipes. Each recipe comes with clear, time-specific instructions, and acclaimed chef Judy Joo guides you through creating delicious Korean treats that can be made in under 30 minutes while still packing a punch in taste and satisfaction.
K-Quick by Judy Joo offers a delightful collection of recipes from side dishes to desserts and everything in between. I enjoyed the diversity of the recipes, but my principal focus in reading this book was the fact that they can each be prepared within thirty minutes. I am always searching for quick and easy recipes, as I have limited time for making dinner. I don't 'enjoy' cooking either, so I want the task completed as quickly as possible for that reason too. Although completed in thirty minutes, some of these recipes do require a bit of a process, but they seem simple enough in most cases. One slight negative for me is that a few have a long-ish list of ingredients, many of which are Korean/Asian staples but not used in Western cooking. You will likely have them to hand if you cook a lot of Asian dishes at home, but if, like me, you don't, some of these recipes could be pricey, as you will have to go out to search for and buy a lot of things before you can start. Just something to bear in mind for those newer to preparing Asian cuisine. Despite that, there were certainly a few recipes here I'd like to try, though, so I have made a note of those to give them a go soon. I am giving this book 4 stars. Definitely worth a look for K-food enthusiasts.
I received this book as a free eBook ARC via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
