Drama

A drifter falls for a married woman at road side diner and the two plot to kill her husband. (IMDB Synopsis)

I almost didn't see Obsession; I was trying to save money. However, my husband told me to go ahead and I'm so glad that I did. I loved every minute of it. I've not seen the original film, so I had no expectations regarding the plot, or pre-formed ideas about the characters. The minimalist set worked perfectly and the lighting offered a real sense of claustrophobia. Overall, this was a really visceral, physical production where touch and looks conveyed so much. The casting was superb. All did well, but of course Jude Law was the standout performance. Jude is great in films, but he is something else entirely on stage. The raw emotion was there in every glance and his slightest action was so captivating that you couldn't look away. This is one of those times when I wish they would also release these live screenings on DVD as this production warrants repeat viewing. I think you would take away something new from it each time. All in all, I was blown away.
