Onimusha is an anime based on a game, so I came to it with no prior knowledge of the plot and characters, nor any major expectations. Overall, I thought it was a well-crafted series. It told the story succinctly yet satisfactorily and the animation looked good throughout. It was a fairly violent and bloody tale, hence the rating, but it held my interest throughout. I am giving it four stars.
