Author Interview3: Crystel Greene

Today I welcome Crystel Greene to the blog to answer a few questions for Author Interview³.

Crystel Greene Author Interview³

1) Tell us 3 fun facts about your writing history
I read loads of romance as a teen and I always knew I wanted to write a romance novel myself one day, so eventually I did. No one has ever read that story about Sandy and George, two troubled doctors working together in a trauma center, and I’d say that’s a good thing too.
Then I posted my first Drarry fic on AO3, got some nice responses, and felt I was meant to be a writer after all (- seriously though, people are so nice over there it really changed my life).
Anyway, I decided to become one of those prolific mm romance writers who churn out a bestseller every three months. I’ve been on it for over a year now, and I’ve published two (2) novellas with Dreamspinner Press so far – not quite the output I’ve been aiming for, I know, but I am working on that fantastic big series, and I’m having fun!

2) Describe your writing style in 3 words
I don’t know about my style, but I can describe my kind of romance in three words: sweet, star-crossed, and NC-17.

3) Name 3 of your literary influences
Well, nobody can be offended by being mentioned in this context since they’re all dead, so here goes: Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, and Oscar Wilde.

4) Share your 3 favourite books
That would be Harry Potter volumes one, three and six.

5) What are your 3 essential writing tools?
My computer, my adjustable armrests, my glasses, and my coffee mug. I guess that’s four, but I really need them all.

6) Where are your 3 favourite places to write?
In the winter it’s my spot in the living room by the window, in the summer it’s outside on the terrace (provided my neighbor’s radio is turned off!). I’d love to write in that lonely little cottage by the sea, obviously.

7) Name 3 items on your writing wish list
I want to write an mm fantasy romance, maybe something epic set in the world of the Norse gods, or else a nice urban fantasy shifter romance. And then there’s that cowboy mm romance WIP…

8) What are your top 3 tips for aspiring writers?
Never. Give. Up.

9) Tell us 3 of your writing plans for the year ahead
I’ve found it’s safer for me to plan only one thing at a time… What I’m going to do (and it’s official now, so I will) is finish the free novella for my newsletter subscribers this month. New Year's Resolutions is a bodyguard mm romance, and here’s what it’s about: Police Sergeant Daniel Kent has never been a fan of Prime Minister Mathias Parker, the hyper-brilliant political wunderkind with the killer cheekbones and the hipster Instagram. And he certainly didn't vote for him. So, when Daniel starts out as the PM's Personal Protection Officer at Downing Street No. 10, the last thing he expects is to lose his heart...

10) Tell us about your latest release
Glacier Gold is a winter mm romance set in the Austrian Alps. I wrote it for Dreamspinner’s World of Love collection. It’s the story of Justin and Andi, and this is how it starts: For Justin, sex has ever only been about fun and scoring, much like sports. Until he comes to the Alps for a winter vacation and meets snowboard instructor Andi, the hot local with the ice-blue Husky eyes. Justin falls for him hard and fast, but the young Austrian is as reserved as he's beautiful. If only Justin had a clue how to deal with being in love, and with having just seven days to move past all this...

Up in the Alps, a single night can change your life.

Struggling college student and self-taught graphic artist Justin Bennet isn't the most self-confident guy, but he knows he's good at two things: snowboarding and sex. Why does Andi, the hot instructor at the Tyrolean ski resort, pretend Justin doesn't exist?

Justin becomes all but obsessed with the idea of scoring with the young Austrian. Because for all the man's reserve, he made it quite obvious he likes Justin--at least from the neck down.

When Justin books a private heliboarding trip with Andi as his guide, he thinks he's one step away from striking gold.
But then the forces of nature take over, trapping the men in a snowstorm, and things get real. What was supposed to be about some freeriding fun and inviting a closeted guy to start exploring his options suddenly becomes about survival--and the hidden truths of the soul.

(Please note that Glacier Gold is a story for adults only!)
