A shy country girl chooses a part-time job at a "maid cafe" where she serves customers while dressed up as a maid. A unique and touching coming-of-age drama. (Synopsis)

Ito was a delightful, heart-warming story about a shy country girl who comes out of her shell once she starts a part-time job at a maid cafe. There were some lovely moments, alongside some humour, and the cast gave good performances, especially the young Komai Ren as Ito. As someone learning Japanese and with a keen interest in music and traditional instruments, I particularly enjoyed the dialect aspects of the script and also the shimasen-playing scenes. Worth checking out if you like sweet, heartfelt coming-of-age tales. It gets 4.5 stars from me.
