TV Review: Thousand Autumns S1 (2021) (BL Fantasy Anima)

Thousand Autumns (千秋)
16 episodes
BL Fantasy Anime

Yan Wushi has walked a path full of blood and corpses. He doesn't believe in the good nature of humanity, or that there could be someone with great kindness and sense of justice who would be considerate of others without asking anything in return. One day, Shen Qiao, former sect leader of Mount Xuandu, the number one Daoist sect under the heavens, is challenged to a duel but somehow falls off the cliff. Yan Wushi happens to pass by. Seeing Shen Qiao, who is seriously injured to the point of dying, he suddenly comes up with a perfect idea -- after thousands of autumns, who could stay eternal?

I loved this animation of the danmei novel Thousand Autumns. The animation looks good throughout, especially during the combat scenes, and I appreciated some of the little moments between Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao they managed to sneak past the censors. Yan Wushi's subtly flirtatious manner was great fun to watch. I felt this was an excellent adaptation of the source material and I hope they will eventually continue and make season 2. I am giving this first season five stars.
